Our Blues Journey

All It Takes Is a Little Bit of Love and Passion for a Blues Dance Community to Flourish.

Downtown Blues grew from a simple idea: Dublin deserved a space for Blues dancing.
It began in 2013 when three local Swing dancers — Raphael Desmaison, Rosie Van Den Broeck, and Marta Martinho — organised a Blues party and discovered a whole community waiting to happen. What started as one night in November has grown over the past 13 years into weekly classes, social dances, and a warm, passionate community of Blues dancers

Today, Downtown Blues continues to bring people together as a welcoming space for anyone who wants to dance, connect, and groove to the rhythm of Blues.

Our Heroes

Meet Our Teachers

We’re definitely not pros — just a bunch of friends who love Blues dancing and want to share that love with others. We volunteer our time and rotate each week, doing our best to pass on what we know and help the Blues scene in Dublin grow.

Our goal is simple: to help more people discover Blues dancing, feel welcome from the moment they walk in, and hopefully fall in love with it as much as we have.

We’re always learning and we truly value your feedback. Got ideas or questions? Please chat with us or get in touch. We’re always happy to listen.

And it’s not just our teachers who make this community run. Our volunteer DJs help set the mood with the Blues tracks we all love.
